     Sabbath School and Worship Services

The title for the Sabbath School lessons for the 3rd quarter of 2023 is "Ephesians".   It is written by John McVay, PhD, President and professor of religion at Walla Walla University in College Place, Washington.  The Bible's Epistle to the Ephesians speaks especially to times like our own in which the allure of the world and the passing of time threated to dull Christian discipleship.  The Christians in the apostle Paul's time who lived in Ephesus were in the fourth-largest city in the Roman Empire.  It was a sophisticated, urban, and thoroughly pagan culture, making life difficult for Christians.

Paul wrote this epistle about 30 years after Christ's resurrection  This was enough time for the Christians to lose sight of their "first love", forgetting any active sense of what it means to be disciple of Jesus.  So Paul sought to reenlist them in Christian faith, to reignite the fire of their devotion to Christ, and to resurrect the excitement of being a part of God's great enterprise in the world and the church.

So, what specifically did Paul write that we need to hear for these troubled times?  You are invited to attend our Sabbath School classes to discover the answer for yourself.

You may now join our virtual Sabbath school classes on ZOOM to participate or just to view and listen from 9:30 to 10:45 am.  Then the worship services can be viewed and heard on ZOOM at 11:00 am.  Call 864-206-4108 for log-on information and/or notice of participation at least a day in advance.  If no one calls, the service will not be ZOOMed.
